Do Dog or Cat Owners Live Longer?

Do dog or cat owners live longer? If you want to live a longer and happier, consider adopting a pet.

Science shows pet owners are reaping an impressive number of health benefits. These include reduced risk for heart attack and stroke, lower levels of pain, better immune function—and yes, improved longevity!

A large recent Swedish study found that dog owners have a lower risk of death from all causes. Especially those who live without the company of other humans. The conclusion of the study in 2017 was that dog ownership appears to be associated with lower risk of cardiovascular disease in single-person households and lower mortality in the general population.

That said, if stress and anxiety are your primary concern, you might opt for a cat because cats appear to be better stress-reducers. A 10 year study of more than 4,000 Americans by researchers at the University of Minnesota’s Stroke Institute in Minneapolis found that owning a cat could reduce your risk of a heart attack by nearly one third.  The finding provoked a mixed reaction from heart experts and veterinarians. Life Perspectives From 30 Plus Years As A Wellness Seeker

I don’t often write about my musings on life. Usually I am teaching the  latest exciting news about health and nutrition such as the miracle of the microbiome or the science of epigenetics or the teachings of Functional Medicine. Today is different.

I just found out that a fabulously fit, amazingly healthy young man had a brain bleed while hiking and it stopped me in my tracks. How could that happen? His life is forever changed in an instant. Yes, I am sure he will make a huge recovery from his brain injury but the truth is that could happen to any of us at any time, so I wanted to muse on the notion of living in the moment.

Being a wellness seeker is about being able to live fully in the moment. Feeling clear headed and energetic and vibrant so that each moment counts. I have never said this out loud, but I think we need to bring the concept of mindfulness front and center in our health and wellness teaching.

Being a wellness seeker is NOT about deprivation now for a brighter tomorrow. Some people live this way but I recommend we change that perspective. Living for tomorrow is a missed opportunity!

Here is what I know for sure . The meaning of anything is about being fully present while you do it.

This is a big leap for me as being a competitive athlete growing up, I was always delaying gratification for the hope of a better future! Perhaps it is living longer and realizing how precious life is that has shifted my perspective.

What do you think?

Want to leap into health and longevity with me?

After years of high animal protein, low carbohydrate diet, I  am taking a drastic leap into health and longevity and doing a 30 Day RAW FOOD challenge to take my nutritional plan to the next level in a supportive community. Did you know that cooking oils, animal proteins, starches and sugars can create a host of substances that affect our cells? They have been shown to impair immune function, longevity, alter DNA, accelerate aging, increase inflammation and increase our cancer risk.

Amazing what people can do when they come together. I never thought I would do something like this but I  have been inspired by others who are dong this. My wellness team has been working, playing and visioning. I’m ready to take my health to a whole other level I want to really add value to the world.

I am undergoing a 30Days RAW Challenge. CLICK HERE to join me. Use DISCOUNT CODE rawsome2017 for  LIFETIME membership to this ONLINE platform for $49  if you join by this Friday the first of SEPTEMBER.

By the way, this is the same price I paid and the platform has been made by a group that I trust!

Eating fresh, live food nourishes our body, boosts longevity, calms cravings and helps us feel energized. Eating a 100 percent raw diet is one of the most radically transforming and healing ways to eat. People with cancer, autoimmune conditions and arthritis have experienced some of the most amazing results by eating a simple, clean, raw diet. 100 percent raw is not  something I would  choose to do lifelong. My plan is to be 80%  plant based long term.

I am not trying to push my dietary ideals onto others. I am doing the 30 Day RAW challenge to take my nutritional plan to the next level in a supportive community. I will be trying new clean recipes and shopping lists as I find I get in a rut with preparing the same foods all the time. I will be exploring more recipes with whole foods and without cooking like Fresh “Pad Thai” without the meat and noodles!  Just cut, blend, mix 👌🏽 My husband will not be joining me on the challenge but he will have the benefit of trying new whole foods we have not had before. I trust my deep dive into this challenge will inspire people to live a better life.

On September 04 (Labor Day/Monday), a Healthy New Beginning kicks off with my first official international #30DaysRAW campaign. We have an amazing support community as well as an online program with step by step guide to recipes, shopping lists, kitchen essentials and everything you need!

CLICK HERE to join me before September 1 for lifetime access to the online course. Remember to use DISCOUNT CODE rawsome2017 for  LIFETIME membership to this ONLINE platform for $49  if you join by SEPTEMBER 1.
